Wineries of the Region

Located against the backdrop of the spectacular ranges of the Grampians National Park is one of Australia's most historical and acclaimed wine regions. The proximity of the Grampians contributes to cool climate viticulture and results in wines with intense variety.

The individual character of these fine wines is available for sampling and sales at any of the cellar doors. Self-drive or take a guided tour.

WINES OF THE REGION

Over recent years winemakers of the Grampians region have been increasingly acknowledged by respected wine writers and wine judges as producing some of Australia's finest quality wines.

Renowned for spicy and peppery Shiraz and crisp, fruity Reislings, the region also produces a diverse range of varietals including Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Chardonnay plus new plantings of Pinot Gris and Semillion.

The winemakers of the Grampians are dedicated to the making of fine wines, a combination of art and skill that reveals itself in every bottle.

Located in the hills behind Crowlands, 25 kilometres east of Ararat. Elevation is between 300—396 m above sea level and the winery lies to the western side of the property on a ridge overlooking Mt Langhi Ghiran and Mount Cole. This provides cool nights, relative frost free springs and sunny dry autumns: perfect for the creation of elegant Shiraz, Tempranillo and Riesling.

With a viticulture background and a strong family tradition the vineyards were planted by Dino and Michael Fratin in 1996, thirty years after their father Serge and his brothers Don and Lino established the well renowned Mount Langi Ghiran Vineyards.
